 I wrote a story set in an official wargaming universe.  Here's a conversation between a Terran naval officer and an alien non commissioned officer:

Ian saw that the old bakery building at 22nd Avenue and Washington Street was boarded up again, another attempt to redevelop the property without demolishing the original single story brick structure had failed.

Plastered all over the structure were posters showing a black and white photograph of a sixty-ish woman, with short fake blonde hair, a standard nine-millimeter service pistol was aimed at her head. The hammer of the pistol in the photograph was blurred as though it were falling on the firing pin.

Over the photograph on the poster in all capital letters was the one word, REMEMBER.

“I’m sorry sir,” said the Chief as he pointed to the posters, “but I’m not fully familiar with that bit of Terran history.”

“Well,” Ian replied, “That’s Saint Hillary, a martyr for the holy cause of Democracy. She was just a stupid old bitch who believed that being democratically elected somehow constituted an excuse for abusive and destructive behavior.”

Actually no, being elected isn't an excuse for totalitarian socialist behavior of any degree.  If The Left in America can't live with this then I'm afraid that we'll have to see to it that they don't.

A Fact Of Reality

Why did they write in a right to bear arms in the Constitution?

My answer to the question is simply this: WE THE PEOPLE are the sovereign authority of the United States of America.  There are several natural consequences of the political primacy of the citizen. I'll just cover the first two here:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

First, the citizen as the sovereign authority must be free to examine the facts for himself and communicate his conclusions to his fellow citizens.  He can't be compelled to believe a falsehood and therefore act on it.

Second, the citizen as the sovereign authority must possess the physical instrument of political authority and be prepared to use it.

The ballot that's cast by the citizen, like the paper currency in common use, must be backed by a physical value.  The government must be subordinate to the sovereign authority, the citizens of the nation.  And citizens must have the knowledge and the means to enforce their authority.  Contrary to what the practicing Kantians want us to believe, the first four words of the Second Amendment doesn't constitute a license to disarm the citizens and render them helpless in the face of a supreme state.  It means that the citizens must be armed, trained, and organized to enforce their authority upon the government.

Now no rational person wants a civil war in our nation, but if the government would simply comply with the Constitution it wouldn't be necessary.

The advocacy of a political end cannot be separated from the advocacy the means it is brought about.  The case in this point is that the disarming of The People requires the use of deadly force. Some advocates of "Gun Control" do not have a problem with this.  In their view reality is subject to a vote and therefore a vote to legalize the murder of citizens who own guns is morally correct.  But Reality is Real.  Reality is not subject to a vote.  And Murder is Murder.  No vote by any political body can change that.  The advocacy of "Gun Control" is the advocacy of Murder.  A state that legalizes Murder in this respect ceases to be a government and devolves to a gang of criminals.  And as such it must be put down by deadly force,and those who pushed and voted for the Murder of gun owners  must themselves be put to death.

There's no such thing as a God given right.  A right is a concept, and all concepts must be based on the facts of reality.

But is gun control effective?

No.

If gun control doesn't keep firearms out of the hands of criminals (genocidal criminals at that) in Soviet Russia, it is not going to do so in Soviet America.

The fact is that some adherents of what was politely called gun control are in fact the heirs of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers Party.  As a result it has become very-very-very-easy to predict what an advocate of public disarmament will say.  All one has to do is take any mouth dropping of Reichsminister Paul Joseph Goebbels and substitute the words Gun Owner for the word Jew.  Yes, it’s that obvious.  There's no such thing as "common sense gun control" those who are in favor of banning firearms are Enemies of Humanity and should be treated in the Nuremberg style, from the neck until dead, and there's no limit to what a Statist can do to a disarmed victim.

Anyone in the State of Minnesota can buy groceries but if you have as much as a misdemeanor on your record forget buying a gun.

Something Else I Wrote

It was March in Minneapolis and it was cold and wet.  There wasn't a proper rain, only a drizzle from a low cloud ceiling.  From where I worked the cash register of a parking lot one could not see the upper floors of the Wells Fargo and IDS towers.  Or for that matter, the top of the skeleton of the aborted Starfire tower.

I was off duty at sixteen hundred (my employer, a security company, used military time).  It had been in the Chinese sense an interesting day.  We raised the half hourly rate for the second time in a month.  Not unexpected given government economic policy and I was still receiving curses and dumbfounded stares from the customers.  One woman called me a Consentist son of a bitch.  I thanked her for the compliment.

Although it was damp I walked outdoors.  On the skyways, the enclosed bridges between buildings, some people would ignore the convenient informational signs.  They would see my security uniform and assume I knew all the answers to their stupid questions: "Where's the elevator?  Where's (a building demolished five years ago?)  Are you toxic?  And have you been saved?"

I crossed the plaza of the old Federal Reserve Bank and started walking south on the mall.  A street person probably male demanded change for bus fare.  He/she/it cursed the Universe and me for not giving him/her/it an unearned existence.

Beyond Seventh Street, under the Skyway to Nowhere, was a clump of people being haranged.  I looked at the boarded up skyway for new graffiti.  Yes there was some.  On the bridge between the
IDS tower and the terminally incomplete Starfire tower, someone had painted: "BEWARE OF FALLING DRAGONS".

I hadn't the faintest idea of what it meant.

I didn't stop as I passed the crowd.  The man standing of on a home built platform was describing the evils of material existence.  If he really believed what he uttering, he could have jumped off any of the convenient bridges in Minneapolis, or off the incomplete Starfire building.  The fence around the abandoned work site wasn't really secure. The City Council was tiffed about that particular mess, but they only had themselves to blame.

I was halfway between Ninth and Tenth streets when somewhere behind me a bomb went off.

My first action was to jump into the convenient alley.  I leaned against the north wall and counted off ten seconds. No other explosions or gunfire. I looked out.  The antimaterialist speaker and his audience were gone,.  I saw rising smoke, broken glass, and lumps of what looked like well dressed hamburger.

I ran back to the mess. Some cops had already arrived at the scene.  I could read their faces. The older ones, survivors of The Revolution showed no emotion.  On the younger cops it was: "At
last someone who isn't a ghoul!  Someone with first aid training!  Can you do this sucking chest wound?"

Of course I could.

A Channel Four newsclown with his camera crew appeared.  Many corespondents from that station are hired by the networks and one even got himself shot by a cop down in Guyana.  The clown recorded his segment and left. 

He'll probably get a Koppel Award for it.

After those who could be saved were evacuated, I gave a statement to the police.  I described everything I saw and heard including the speakers platform at what was now the center of the
blast area.

The cops gave me a lift to my flat.  I lived in a small apartment two blocks off of Lake of the Isles.  I locked the door and took a long, hot shower.  I have never really felt clean after messes like today's. Of course this time it wasn't a grunt hunt.

I opened a Diet Coke (the real thing was too sweet for me), switched on the anti-surveillance system, and booted up the PC.  When I was finished, I placed the report on the day's incident with the data I had gathered on the local politicians.

And once again I had the thought that I should have stayed home and helped Dad on his hemp farm outside of Rockstone, Guyana.

The Media in the context of a political contest has a function similar to that of a witness in a criminal trial.  By committing perjury the witness prevents the jury from issuing a correctly informed verdict. The results of which are wrong, such as the conviction of an innocent individual, and could be disastrous, like the acquittal of a murderous psychopath. Thus the act of perjury must be treated as a punishable crime.

The absolute first thing taught at infantry basic training during the Cold War was that the maximum effective range of an excuse is zero.   On the face of it I saw this as the response to any attempt to explain a failure to learn a necessary skill.  But this idea also applies to the moral nightmare we were facing during with the Communist enemy and their excuses for their crimes.   The functions of ideology are to erase the responsibility of the perpetrators for their actions and to deny the humanity of the victims.  But there's never a valid excuse for murder.

What Hubbard called the religion angle needs to be closed, to this end I propose to amend The Constitution.

The obvious question that's been raised in the past is why I don't call for a ban on Scientology by name?  A name's only a mental label for the concept.  Even though it appears to be internally forbidden to change the doctrines of Scientology, the doctrines also commands the believer to deceive the victims where necessary.   Thus deception, such as a name change, by a Scientologist will occur.  It's by identifying a specific toxic attribute of Scientology that we can properly exclude it from protection under the First Amendment.  A fundamental attribute of the doctrine of Scientology is the denial of real laws.  The real acts of legislation by real governments that protect the real rights of the people.  In declaring "man made" laws to be invalid Hubbard opened the door to the commission of a multitude of crimes that would be carried out by Hubbard and other Scientologists for their own personal benefit.  This action's absolutely intolerable in a civil society, in reality The People are the sovereign authority and the sole source of legislation.  In reality Scientology has to go.  In order for us to live a properly Human life we must allow our government to take a proactive role in defending our rights.

Inherent in Socialist doctrines is the implicit premise that the mere human being is an animal without a mind, or a soul, and thus without rights, and it should be treated as such by the ideal socialist state.  If there's anyone who has a right to be offended at such public utterances it' s the victims of Socialism.

Of course the Socialist believer's going to be offended when the truth's spoken.  Socialism's in practice the destruction of persons and entire societies as a whole.  Socialist doctrines are the lies that the socialist must tell himself in order to avoid the self realization that he's in fact a thief and a murderer. 

Of course the truth's going to hurt their feelings.  So what?

A Socialist isn't bothered in the slightest when one of them publicly incites a mob to murder elected officials and their families because the officials are upholding and defending the Constitution to which they have sworn.  The Socialist sees this as normal and acceptable behavior.  But because the Socialists can't, or won't, believe in a higher standard of behavior they'll freak out every time they see a bunch of farmers or other citizens get together for some target practice in fear that this is the mob that's coming after them.

In order to live each man requires accurate information in order to make correct moral decisions. Valid knowledge is like food and oxygen, a necessary requirement of human life.  Because the range of the senses of each individual's limited, men have through the practice of verbal (and later written) communication used communication with each other as a means of extending the range of their own senses and thus improving their own prospects for survival.

Societies that value knowledge will generally tend to be more economically and technologically advanced than those societies that devalue knowledge.  Whenever a military confrontation occurs between Rational states and those ruled by the Irrational, the Rational as a general rule, will prevail in the struggle.

As we see our own right to life as sacred, then we must see the Truth as nothing less than sacred.  Those who demand that we ignore the Truth or would forcibly prevent us from learning the Truth should be treated as nothing less than Enemies of Mankind in General, to be dealt with as wolves are.

     Everyone Dies, not everyone learns how to live.
     The late Princess Diana didn't really seek her own destruction, she wanted very much to live and be a good person.  She sought happiness in her life, but didn't know what a human life really was.  She desperately required moral knowledge, what life was and how to live it.  What she was taught as a child was close to pure poison.
     Her parents sent Diana to a boarding school, the Church of England's equivalent of a Dewey camp.  Here she was pounded with the doctrines that selflessness was the moral ideal, that sacrifice and obedience were virtues, that independent judgement was evil, and that her mind was impotent to deal with material existence.  Her mind thus mangled, she was sent out to live a mangled life.
     Diana sacrificed fifteen years of her life to a sniveling piece of hominid debris and sacrificed her children to a barbaric tradition.  She sought guidance from psychics and astrologers and sacrificed her dignity campaigning for various "child hugger" groups.  Finally, she sacrificed her physical existence to the whims of a third world savage.
     All Diana had to do to avoid the aforementioned horrors was simply to say: "No, this is wrong, I won't do it."  To do so requires a valid knowledge of moral standards, and for her to know that she was right to exercise moral judgement.  It is not enough to know that there is an alternative to a particular course of action, one must know that the alternative is morally correct.
