Another Quote of the Day

Flipflop from Little Green Footballs passed on to us:

"The war can't be over...I still have targets!"

An A-10 Pilot, Gulf War I

Quote of the Day

Christheprofessor at Little Green Footballs brings us this interesting bit of cultural commentary:

I knew I'd been living in Berkeley too long when I saw a sign that said 'Free firewood" and my first thought was "Who was Firewood and what did he do?'

A Suggestion

The next time you hear someone whine about the way the United States government treats psychotic mass murderers terrorists at the prison at Guantanamo, show the the whiner what a real gulag run by actual communists is really like.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled reality.

Insane Thought of the Day

Apotheosis Now.

Directed by Franics Ford Coppola, Screenplay by John Milius.

Starring Martin Sheen as Admiral James T. Kirk, Dennis Hopper as Dr. Leonard McCoy, and Marlon Brando as V'Ger.

The film opens with the fatal Klingon encounter with the V'Ger cloud set to The End by The Doors.

We then fade to a view of San Francisco as seen through a window in Admiral Kirk's apartment.

Kirk (voiceover): Earth. Shit. I was still only on Earth.

(Les is going back to bed now.)

And Then...

I stopped over at Powerline and saw this:

I just sent off the book proposal draft for the agent who is going to shop it around. In the chapter dedicated to the fake memos, I gave her a pass on stuff like the typos, fonts, etc., because you guys and others have already proved that. Instead I went against her new defense, repeated ad nauseam, and in bold italics in the above excerpt; that ALL the evidence supports the documents. I was running out of paper in tearing apart her own arguments and exposing glaring errors. One example: Twice in the 6 fakes one finds Bush's service number. Problem here for Mary is that these memos are in 1972 and 73. The Air Force stopped using service numbers on July 1, 1969, and switched over to social security numbers, 3 and 4 years prior. All of Bush's released records had the SSNo blacked out as required by law. But old service numbers from Bush's earlier documents were not redacted...

[The fabricator] grabbed the service numbers from released records, not realizing that they would never show up on a 72-73 document. Irony is, he put the anachronistic service numbers in the wrong format - the FG had to be a prefix, not a suffix, like FG 1234567...For a while we used to put the two letter code FG (means Air Guard; FR means Air Force Reserve, FV means active duty Air Force) as a suffix to the new SSNo ID, as in 987 65 4321FG. Later we dropped the two letter code entirely. [The fabricator's] personal experience was with the 987-65-4321 FV format (actually, the Army Guard used different codes), so when he grabbed the service number from files to add a hint of authenticity to the memos, he probably reverted to habit. Stupid, because if you look at Bush's real records, you will see the letters FG as a prefix - he couldn't even plagiarize correctly!

So we don't have to argue about magic typewriters then, eh?

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

Thomas Lifson on why the Left to going batshit crazy:

A sudden loss of status and influence is a profound shock to most people who have spent their lives aimed at the acquisition and enjoyment of socio-political standing. Relieved of the ability to shape the consciousness and behavior of others, a certain number unburden themselves of the inner restraints which kept them from openly voicing the condescension and scorn they have for those whom they regard as their social, intellectual, and moral inferiors.

And that's not all, read the entire piece here.

Leftists as a general rule are material and/or spiritual parasites. Because of this they need to feel that they are in control of the hosts that they feed from.

For Leftists, control is life. Without the apparent certainty that they are control of the productive population the Left's fear of their own perishing kicks in.

Not that there's anything wrong about that... (Evil Grin)

Hat tip to Dr. Ray.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

This simply cannot be for real:

Dean: "Republicans are polluting the true meaning of Christmas with religion."

DNC Chair vows to take back the non-denominational traditional winter festival from "the nuts who have hijacked it."

Look, I know that liberals tend to be neuronically-challenged, but this is simply insane.

It can't real, right?

Quote of the Day

From Mark's Signature Quotes pages:

"I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for..."

-- DNC Chairman Howard Dean

That would be the Right of Life, followed by the subsidiary rights of Liberty and Property.

A right of the individual is a restraint upon the powers of government and society as a whole. Which is perfectly all right for those of us who are rational and productive. But to those who irrationally choose parasitism as their mode of existence an individual right is like staring at the muzzle of a shotgun that is aimed at their own heads.

Because a rational individual cannot be expected to willfully consent to having a parasite living continually at their expense, the parasite must resort to force and fraud in order to sustain its own life.

Thus the parasite tend to favor dictatorships, with a fully functional apparatus of censorship and repression, over free societies with governments that are accountable to the citizens.

To the parasite, power over the productive is life.

Any restraint on that power -- be it the freedom of speech and press, the rights to self defense and to bear arms, or the process of democratic election -- is a danger to the parasite's continued existence. Thus the parasite must oppose tyrranicide, the liberation of the oppressed peoples, and the establishment of free republics.

On the issue of violent crime it appears that the sympathies of parasites are not with the victims but are with the criminals, thus they publicly object to the execution of a quadruple murderer but care nothing about his victims.

How could any rational person not be disgusted by such antics?

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

Dr. John Ray has something to say about some self-styled philosophers:

And for me any philosophy that fails to give an account of mind, ethics, cause and self is quite simply failed philosophy. And a philosophy that denies that any of those things are real is therefore fit only to be ignored. As it happens, however, there are lots of failed philosophers about and they have somehow conned the taxpayers into paying them a lot of money. They call themselves "postmoderninsts" and, as far as one can make any sense at all of what they say, their essential credo seems to be "nothing is real". When I come across such garbage I tend to be overcome by the wish that I could hit the so-called philosophers over the head with a baseball bat and then say to them: "Don't worry. Nothing is real so I didn't really hit you over the head with a baseball bat. Just carry on as before while I get ready to hit you again". I think reality would be rapidly rediscovered under those circumstances.

As a former U.S. Army combat rifleman I personally prefer the butt-stroke to the head for that sort of thing.

A Question

For the left:

Are you really stupid or are you taking advantage of the fact that we haven't hanged a traitor for something like six decades?

We now return you to your regularly scheduled reality.

Today in Pizzaland

Some bitch stiffed me on the tip with a check for the exact amount and then had the fucking nerve to call the store to complain about MY conduct.

Never mind the fact that the streets were covered with snow and ice.

And I didn't ask if she was a Democrat.

And for the second night in a row I just started screaming, just incoherent screaming, after returning home.

I had an idea for a screenplay about the pizza delivery business. In it there would be a scene where the main viewpoint character, a driver, returns to the store to find a nun neeling outside the entrance with her rosary in hands praying.

The driver asks the manager what the nun is doing out there.

"Praying for the souls of the damned."

"But why here?"

"Why do robbers rob banks? That's where the money is."

There, I feel better now.

Meanwhile in Pizzaland

Had a long and crappy day at work on Wednesday.

Why is it that when it snows, which increases the hazards of driving, that every fucking idiot in the delivery area has to call and order pizza for delivery?

Must be a bunch of Democrats.
