A Bigger Problem

Hugh Hewitt is mystified by Viacom's behavior regarding the memoscam:

For reasons unfathomable to outsiders, the Board of Directors of Viacom is watching the brand value burn to the ground without lifting a finger to stop it. This isn't about a one week ratings fade. It is about setting free an entire generation of news viewers to sample other networks and develop new habits.

Uh Hugh, Viacom also owns the Star Trek franchise through it's Paramount Pictures subsidiary. They've allowed the franchise to rot under the control of Mssrs. Brannon and Braga to the point where production budgets and the number of episodes are now being cut and there is talk of letting Star Trek die or go into corporate hibernation.

The problem may be bigger than we all think.
