A Blast From The Present

Andrew Sullivan has been kind enough to quote Ted Rall, the nihilist-leftist cartoonist:

"The word 'hero' has been bandied about a lot to refer to anyone killed in Afghanistan or Iraq. But anyone who voluntarily goes to Afghanistan or Iraq [as a soldier] is fighting for an evil cause under an evil commander in chief."
The present day Left, like all barbarian brigands before them, depends on the predatory use of force in order to obtain the material goods necessary to sustain physical life, and in the case of the Left to create and maintain their personal delusion of their own fitness to live. The worst thing that could happen to a barbarian brigand and those who collaborate with them is for their victims to take up arms and effectively resist, to rise up and kill the those who had sought to conquer and plunder. Or in the case of the Taliban, for a third party such as the United States to come in and overthrow them.

To those who see unrestrained power as the greatest good for themselves the greatest evil is the man who willingly stands up in defense of the helpless victims of power.

I strongly suspect that to the Left, and their de-facto allies, the would-be Islamist conquerors of the world the following words must read like a death sentence:

WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that amoung these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness...
