Well, Hello World Conqueror!

Once upon a time ago at the end of the independent comics boom my landlady bought a comic book featuring a bunch of well constructed young ladies with a set of personal firearms that would impress Sergeant Rambo. One of the running gags in the book was that the young ladies would go into the low moan mode whenever someone used the phrase "sociopolitical implications." This small point of plot has since become a running joke between my landlady and myself.

"Dana?"
"Yes, Les?"
"Sociopolitical implications."
"Ohhhhhh! Ohhhhhh!"
"Just checking..."

The reason I brought up this bit of personal history is that there are some people -- who are either members of, or closely associated with, the Homintern -- who are apparently whining about the politics of sexual orientation being a factor in the flop of a recently released motion picture:

Alexander has proved to be the Thanksgiving weekend's biggest flop, and while it is a portrait of a legendary leader who ruled far-away lands more than 300 years before the birth of Christ, it has brutally exposed the cultural and moral divide which slices America in two.

The three-hour, big budget epic, starring Colin Farrell, Colin Farrell's shockingly bad blond hair-do and Angelina Jolie has dared to suggest what most historians have long taken for granted - that Alexander was bisexual. And that gets rather different responses in different parts of the US.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation says the $150m (£79m) film breaks new ground for a big budget epic because it shows boyhood friend Hephaestion "as the true love of Alexander's life". A line from the film says: "Alexander was defeated only once - by Hephaestion's thighs."

But conservative Christians have loudly denounced Alexander as "pro-gay" propaganda from Tinseltown, insisting that Alexander was a firmly hetero hero. To add to the film's problems, the public has stayed away from what was to be the big movie of the Thanksgiving weekend.

Big Alex liked guys too? So what?

No serious military historian, or any of us who actually read serious military historians, ever made an issue of Alexander's well documented sexual habits. And if there was anything about Alexander that I was positively impressed with, apart from his use of applied reason to win battles against overwheming odds, it the fact that he suffered a punctured lung in battle and survived in spite of the slightly more advanced than witch-doctory state of medical practice at the time. First aid for the sucking chest wound was a big part of battlefield first aid as taught at the Benning School for Boys when I attended back in the spring of 1982. And it remained a part of the skill qualification testing throughout my time in the army.

But Alexander as the ultimate soldier of his time was apparently not the subject of Oliver Stone's film.

It was apparent in the block of promotional documentaries shown on the History Channel that Alexander was going to be, as my landlady put it, a big-budget soap opera featuring oiled musclemen in leather for the gay guys, large breasted women for the straight guys, and a few straight warriors for the ladies in the audience. In short, as I would put it, this movie was going to be just another Hollywood clusterf**k.

Stone made casting choices that would have been questionable under normal circumstances but are totally senseless in this film. A peroxided Irishman as Alex. Val Kilmer, who was apparently still channeling Jim Morrison, as the not so dear old dad. And that over-tanned Hollywood glamdroid with a bad euro-accent Angelina Jolie as mommy dearest. Really, Jolie comes across as overly artificial in appearance, that is fake, to the point of being ugly. And given the actual ethnic composition of the Macedonian and Greek population at the time I would say that a certain 43-year old Minnesota hausfrau would have been a better casting choice. But then would I have to admit to being a bit biased.

But the real deal-killer with respect to this film was the fact that it was directed by Oliver Stone. The communist-thug hugger who has made a career out of cinematically trashing the values of Western Civilization and trashing America in particular. I personally suspect that this is why a lot people chose to see other movies or stayed home altogether.

As for myself, I won't pay to see Alexander, but I might catch it when its shown on the History Channel.

So Anyway

So anyway I will hit 44 (or to put it more accurately, 44 will hit me) sometime next week.

There will be no celebrations of my birthday.

Does everyone understand?

Pledge This!

Dr. John Ray put the argument over the Pledge of Alliegence in perspective by linking to an interesting piece on the origin and intended purpose of the pledge:

Francis Bellamy and his cousin and cohort, the author Edward Bellamy, wanted government to take over all schools as a socialist monopoly, end all of the better alternatives, and use government schools to produce an "industrial army" (a Bellamy term) explicitly modeled
upon the military in order to nationalize the economy and create a society of totalitarian socialism as described in the book "Looking Backward" by Edward Bellamy. It explains the modern Military-Socialist complex. The Bellamy boys actively promoted what they called "military socialism." Part of the plan was the pledge.

The Bellamys and the pledge influenced the hate-spewing paramilitary societies of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (62 million dead), the People's Republic of China (35 million dead), and the horrid National Socialist German Workers' Party (21 million dead). (Death tolls from Professor R. J. Rummel's book "Death by Government" which is also available).

Most so-called conservatives are ignorant of the pledge's deplorable past, and to the extent they do know, they cover it up. Republican socialists have been duped into robotically chanting the pledge and there are probably socialists in-the-know who laugh silently at the spectacles.

There's another piece on the pledge featuring an interesting photograph.

When I left the public school system twenty-five years ago I promised myself that I would never subject a child of my own to a public school.

Banning the pledge would be a good start on the long overdue process of de-communizing the schools.

More Narcissistic Whining

The problem with being angry with one's self, as opposed to merely wallowing in self pity, is that one cannot sleep.

The problem is, or now I should say was, that I made a bad snap decision at a social event. It was a high school class reunion. I stepped up to the greeting table and picked up my name tag and then took one look at the gathered crowd. The thought then hit me in the head like a twenty-pound sledge hammer,

I DON'T BELONG HERE!

I went back out to my truck and whined to myself for about five minutes. If I had simply drove away at this point I could have returned with a minimum of fuss and bother. But what I did was to walk back into the event venue and return my name tag to the nice ladies at the greeting table, apologized, and walked away. Thus I made what is by all appearances an irreversible mistake.

The metaphysical joke here is that I registered for the event so I that wouldn't go into the self-rebuke mode for not showing up at all.

Deep Thought

I can tune out or ignore every voice of criticism except one, my own.

It appears that I may be my own worst critic.

(But Les, isn't this an example of narcissistic whining? Shhhhhhhh!)

So Anyway

Yes, tonight sucked, but it my fault and my fault alone.

When I retorically asked, who in their right mind would want to listen to a load of narcissistic whining, even though the question is applicable to the present day Left, I was really speaking of myself when I wrote the question.

And Then There's This Other Doctor...

John Ray (M.A.; Ph.D.) is having some fun with a Leftist Ninny:

But let's have a look at a bit more weirdness. Take this Orwellian statement: "This tendency has finally metastacized into a genuinely dangerous situation, one in which the GOP has become host to a Stalinist movement that exhibits so many of the traits of fascism that the resemblance is now unmistakable." Quite aside from the fact that this great intellectual cannot even spell "metastasized", he is asking us to believe that the people who opposed Communism for decades and finally destroyed it utterly are themselves communists! I guess it's not impossible but seeing that the GOP and their Christian allies have always advocated the exact opposite of communism, the writer is clearly in cloud-cuckoo land. If you can say that free-enterprise=Stalinism, you might as well say black=white. I guess that a Leftist "postmodernist" would have no problem in doing exactly that, however.

Let's face it, the Left appears to have serious difficulty with certain very basic concepts, such as REALITY.

Deep Thought

Who in their right mind would want to listen to a load of narcissistic whining?

It fits...

I'm Back

I don't really have anything to say at the moment, I'm just back from Mom's house.

It's not like I have anything to say about the relationship between tyrants and the tyrannized or anything like that. Or how someone appointing themselves to be an elite over ordinary humanity is really the first step in the process of self-dehumanization. I mean that would take a great deal of deep thought that I really don't have time for as that I have to deliver pizza today and then show up late for a party to which I was invited tonight.

(My lack of God! Les has a social life again!)

And Now For Something Completely Different

I'm off to Mom's for Thanksgiving.

Back Friday.

Another Doctor Is In

Walter Williams has a few things to say about the bashing of our new Secretary of State, such as:

Dr. Condoleezza Rice, President Bush's national security adviser and now his secretary of state nominee, has been the subject of nasty, demeaning and disrespectful cartoons and commentary. Some of the worst has come from people like Julian Bond, chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, who said on TV's "America's Black Forum" that he agreed with "The Boondocks" cartoonist Aaron McGruder's characterization of Dr. Rice as "a murderer." A lead article in Black Commentator said, "Condoleezza Rice is the purest expression of the race traitor. No polite description is possible." Those kinds of attacks by blacks have emboldened guilt-ridden white liberals to join in as seen by the recent cartoons of Pat Oliphant and Garry Trudeau ("Doonesbury").

The term race traitor was used by Neo-Nazi trash like the late and unlamented William Pierce to mean someone who does not unquestionably submit to the will of the self-appointed leaders of the race. The penalty for race treason, if the new National Socialists had the power to carry it out, was death.

If you must know, yes, I have read The Turner Diaries. I would liken the experience of reading it to being the intellectual equivalent of swimming in raw sewage.

If you want a more complete view of the nazification of the Left in America then I recommend that you read The Ominous Parallels by Leonard Peikoff.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled reality.

Ahem...

Here is a message for all those whiny narcissistic jerks who have taken upon themselves the task of apologizing for the re-election of President Bush:

The Doctor Is In

Michael Hurd on Comrade Hillary and her political ambitions:

You can be sure that Hillary Clinton's concern with Republican rule is not about improper government control over individuals. Her concern is that it's not her power. She views -- to some degree correctly -- the Republicans as the party of less government control over people (e.g. lower taxes) and greater determination to use military force against enemies of our country. She doesn't like this. She wants more power over people; not less. And she wants to be the Power Broker in Chief more than she can begin to express. Her husband's Presidency was a means to this ultimate end. When and if she manages to get the power we all know she wants, you can better believe she will not be afraid to use it.

Were she to win in 2008 we can be sure of two things. First she will be firmly in touch with her inner Stalin. Second, that there will be no presidential election in 2012. People with a bad case of powerlust are fairly predictable that in that way.

President Hillary Rodham Clinton? You heard it here first.

Actually, given her basic beliefs and goals, its been anticipated by us in Pachyderm Party for a rather long time.

So what would be the likely outcome of Hillary being elected? (Or more likely, "elected".) A couple of years ago I wrote a story set in an official wargaming universe. Here is a conversation between a Terran naval officer and an alien non-commissioned officer:

Ian saw that the old bakery building at 22nd Avenue and Washington Street was boarded up again, another attempt to redevelop the property without demolishing the original single storey brick structure had failed.

Plastered all over the structure were posters showing a black and white photograph of a sixty-ish woman, with short fake blonde hair, a standard nine-millimeter service pistol was aimed at her head. The hammer of the pistol in the photograph was blurred as though it were falling on the firing pin.

Over the photograph on the poster in all capital letters was the one word, REMEMBER.

“I’m sorry sir,” said the Chief as he pointed to the posters, “but I’m not fully familiar with that bit of Terran history.”

“Well,” Ian replied, “That’s Saint Hillary, a martyr for the holy cause of Democracy. She was just a stupid old bitch who believed that being democratically elected somehow constituted an excuse for abusive and destructive behavior.”

Actually no, being elected is not an excuse for totalitarian socialist behavior of any degree. If the Left in America can't live with this then I'm afraid that we'll have to see to it that they don't.

In any case we need to start working right [expletive] now to defeat Hillary.

Or else.

That's one big freezer...

Topping Film Threats Frigid 50: The Coldest People in Hollywood 2004 is the massive propagandist Michael Moore.
"...now Michael’s alleged “limousine liberal” ways are being exposed in a new documentary entitled “Michael Moore Hates America.” The film (hitting theaters in limited release) features regular schlub Mike Wilson who seeks out Moore in an effort to question the controversial filmmaker’s techniques. All Wilson wants is to interview Michael – and ala “Roger and Me,” Moore completely disses the young filmmaker, evading his request for an interview and berating him at a public event. In one particularly damning sequence."

INSURGENTS FAKING DEAD FIRES ON MARINES

FALLUJAH, Iraq – Marines from the 1st Marine Division shot and killed an insurgent, who while faking dead, opened fire on the Marines that were conducting a security and clearing patrol through the streets here at approximately 3:45 p.m. on 21 November.

For more information, please contact Capt Bradley Gordon, public affairs officer, 1st Marine Division, gordonbv@1mardivdm.usmc.mil

I have some advice for those Muslims who, being in touch with their inner Osama, or the Blue Zone Leftists who are getting in touch with their inner Mao or their inner Trotsky (the founder and first commander of the Soviet Army):

Any attempt to overthrow the United States Government will fail.

In the event that you are cut off and surrounded by the regular armed forces (I very seriously doubt that any group of civilian gun owners are going to be taking prisoners) you will have only two options.

One, drop your weapon and walk out with your hands up with the palms facing forward.

The other option is to point your personal weapon so that the path of bullet will pass through your brain, scream, "my [expletive] false-god is great!" And pull the trigger. Lefties may substitute "Heil Hillary" in the place of any Islamic expression of faith.

Any action between these options will earn you a free round of ammunition.

Are there any questions on this block of instruction?

The More Things Change...

I'm presently reading MILITARY INTELLIGENCE BLUNDERS AND COVER-UPS, by Colonel John Hughes-Wilson. At the end of the chapter covering the Falklands War (which occured entirely during the time I was in basic infantry training at Fort Benning) there was this passage about the attitude of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office:

The final word on the Falklands deserves to be given to the FCO, a much-maligned body of men and women among their euphoric colleagues in the British armed services after the war. As the Royal Marines and the Paras of the victory parade marched through the City of London in October 1982, an aspiring FOC mandarin leaned across to a member of the Defence Intelligence Staff on the balcony overlooking the pageant.

"You know, Harry, this all shows the results of letting some desperately unpopular tinpot autocrat use a crazy foreign military adventure to court popularity and get off the hook at home."

The DIS man nodded knowingly, "Charles, you're absolutely right. Yes, Galtieri and the junta really blew it."

The FCO man snorted in disgust. "Galtieri? Harry, I'm talking about Margaret Thatcher!"

I certainly hope that Dr. Rice can make some progress toward cleaning up the mess at the Department of Treason State.

Two Items

United States Secret Service and Chilean security get into a loud dispute:

Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. The incident happened after Bush and his wife, Laura, had just posed for pictures on a red carpet with the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife, Luisa Duran.

As Bush stepped inside, Chilean agents closed ranks at the door, blocking the president's agents from following. Stopping for more pictures, Bush noticed the fracas and turned back. He reached through the dispute and pulled his agent from the scrum and into the building.

Can you imagine Mr. John "appeasement-to-the-point-of-treason" Kerry stepping into the fracas? President Bush is at his best when steps out of the politician mode.

Meanwhile on the Left Coast:

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Shoppers in San Francisco may soon be paying for their grocery sacks.

City officials are considering charging grocery stores 17 cents apiece for the bags to discourage use of plastic sacks.

And the [expletive] control freaks of the Left are mystified as to why we won't allow them to exercise power over us.

Thought for the Day

The homeowner who shoots an violent intruder isn't only defending his own home and family but also the homes and families of what would have been the intruder's future victims.
