Thought for the Day

Politics is mainly a contest between those who think they know but don't (The Left and the Greens) and those who know that they don't know (Conservatives and Libertarians)

This Is Insane

The federal government has performed a major boo-boo.

Tuesday: Vang Pao charged in Laos plot

In an indictment sure to jolt Minnesota's large Hmong population, federal authorities in California charged Gen. Vang Pao and eight others Monday with plotting to overthrow the Communist government in their former homeland of Laos.

"We are looking at conspiracy to murder thousands and thousands of people at one time," Assistant U.S. Attorney Bob Twiss said in court.

That should be "twit", not Twiss. Anyone who acts to protect a communist state is an idiot and an accessory to mass slavery and mass murder.

Killing a communist is not an act of murder. It is an act that saves human lives.

How the hell can we expect the institution of government to defend human civilization when they work instead to protect barbarians?

U.S. Attorney Bob Twiss and his staff should be fired for giving aid and comfort to the enemies of Mankind.

I've included the complete text below.

Vang Pao led Hmong soldiers who fought alongside the CIA and U.S. troops during the Vietnam War, paving the way for thousands of Hmong to end up in Minnesota. Once revered, Vang Pao has had his popularity and credibility decline in recent years. Two years ago, the Minnesota attorney general's office forced the Vang Pao Foundation to close and pay restitution after violating state nonprofit laws.

Vang Pao splits his time between homes in Minnesota and Orange County, Calif.

He was scheduled to be in St. Paul for next month's Hmong soccer tournament. He is now in custody after being arrested at his home in Westminster, Calif., on Monday morning.

"Some people have positive feelings about the general, some don't like him ... but this will come as a shock," said Ilean Her, director of the Council on Asian-Pacific Minnesotans.

"I have to see some evidence," she said. "He's at the trail end of his popularity and I would say these charges would have had more credibility 10 years ago when he had much more influence, at least here in Minnesota."

Xang Vang -- who drives the general when he comes to Minnesota, including a trip for a veterans' celebration earlier this year -- said that despite the recent controversies with his foundation, Vang Pao remains highly respected in the local Hmong community.

"He's like George Washington to the American citizens," said Vang, who runs the Hmong American Mutual Assistance Association. "Without him, the Hmong would all be dead in Laos."

Vang Pao has long been unwavering in his promise to Hmong refugees that he would help them overthrow the Communist government of Laos so that they could one day return to their homeland.

He has reportedly raised millions of dollars in the past 25 years, often from impoverished Hmong families who make monthly contributions to a secretive organization called Neo Hom.

Her said the indictment will likely spark fear in the local Hmong community, which is considered the largest urban concentration of Hmong in the country. "Resistance fighting can now be labeled as terrorism by U.S. authorities," Her said. "The local community will want to see the evidence."

Six-month investigation

The nine men indicted, including Harrison Ulrich Jack, a 1968 graduate of West Point, allegedly conspired to obtain hundreds of AK-47s, Stinger missiles, anti-tank missiles, mines, rockets and C-4 explosive, as well as smoke grenades, to overthrow the Laotian government.

All the suspects are in custody and appeared before a federal magistrate judge in U.S. District Court in Placerville, Calif., on Monday afternoon to hear the charges read against them.

The charges stem from a six-month undercover investigation, dubbed "Operation Tarnished Eagle," that included a series of meetings with undercover federal agents during which the plotters allegedly discussed moving weapons into safe houses in Thailand and Laos.

Vang Pao is accused with the eight others of violating the U.S. neutrality act by plotting on American soil to invade a foreign country.

Jack, a former U.S. infantry officer who retired in 1977 as a lieutenant colonel in the California National Guard, allegedly approached defense contractors seeking munitions for the plot, according to a criminal complaint.

Some of the suspects allegedly sought out former Army Special Forces and Navy Seal veterans to serve as mercenaries.

125 AK-47s and 20,000 rounds

The complaint charges that since January the suspects have inspected a wide variety of weapons, including AK-47s, Stinger missiles and Claymore mines.

The complaint said the group purchased "an initial installment of 125 AK-47 machine guns, 20,000 rounds of ammunition, and crates of smoke grenades for a purchase price of $100,000, to be delivered in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 12, 2007."

A $50,000 payment was to be made June 11, with the balance to be handed over the next day, when the weapons were to be received, the complaint said. A third payment of $50,000 was to cover the purchase of some Stinger missiles, the government contends.

Jack allegedly met and spoke with an undercover federal agent several times to discuss weapons procurement, and had budgeted $9.8 million for the desired munitions. The money was to come from "contributions from community leaders through the clan leadership," the complaint says.

Various discussions of the plot allegedly took place at Sacramento-area bars, restaurants and hotels, and the parking lot of a Kmart near Hwy. 99 in Stockton.

Reducing targets 'to rubble'

In May, the complaint said, the suspects had "intelligence operatives" in place in the capital city of Vientiane, Laos, "conducting surveillance of military and government facilities in downtown Vientiane."

The suspects also "issued an operations plan to a contractor to conduct a military strike in downtown Vientiane," the complaint said, "against specifically identified military and civilian government personnel and buildings."

It said the suspects told their mercenary force "to reduce [the targets] to rubble, and make them look like the results of the attack upon the World Trade Center in New York on Sept. 11, 2001."

And Now For Something Completely Different

Today in Day by Day, Chris Muir takes a shot at Lucas Electrics.

Perfectly understandable. I briefly owned a British sports car (a Triumph TR-7) and I can tell you from experience that Lucas Electrics parts suck.

I should also note that when the Brazilian Navy bought an old British aircraft carrier they had to completely rewire it with Brazilian made electrical components.

Dumb F***s of the Day.

From the state of California (gosh, what a surprise) comes the story of office supply store employees who were assaulted by some gangster (or wanna-be gangsters) for wearing their red uniform shirts in the workplace.

Staples employees shirts spark gang attack

PETALUMA, Calif. (AP) - Petaluma police say two Staples office supply store employees and a shopping center customer were beaten recently by gang members, apparently for wearing red clothing.

The attacks happened Friday near the Staples office supply store in Petaluma, where two workers and another person were assaulted.

Gosh, I guess people working for a living and having to wear uniform apparel in the workplace must be an alien concept (I say, concept!) for some folks.

Two 17-year-olds, a boy and a girl, were later arrested.

Petaluma Police Sergeant Dave Kahl says a Staples employee was standing outside the store when the suspects began yelling gang slogans and challenging him to fight. He started to walk into the store when they attacked him with their fists.

The suspects were booked into Sonoma County Juvenile Hall.

Where they will no doubt receive a good talking to from what passes for authorities in the state of California.

The other idiot of the day was some (race deleted) kid who ordered a pizza from the Pizza Hut where I work as a driver. When I arrived the kid told me that he didn't have the money and that his mother was expected to arrive at the home in about ten minutes.

No way in Hell am I going to wait around for someone's mommy when I have other customers waiting for their orders.

What are your questions on this block of instruction?

A Message...

From Human Events Online:

If Republicans hope to win the presidency next year, they better find a candidate who is prepared to stand for very bold, very dramatic and very systematic change in Washington. Not only that, but they had better make the case that the left-wing Democrat likely to be nominated represents the failed statusquo : the bureaucracies that are failing, the social policies that are failing, the high tax policies that are failing, and the weakness around the world that has failed so badly in protecting America.

What the Republican Party needs to get through their collective skulls right now is the fact that the age of politics as usual is over.

No more compromise. No more deals. No more bipartisanship.

There must be a radical clean up of the mess that the Left has created. The partisans of socialism must be systematically removed from our public institutions. And if we are to have a future as the core nation of our civilization we must make a special effort to clean out the Augean Stables that our educational establishment has become under the tutelage of the Left.

And we must with volume and clarity tell the spoiled brats who imagine themselves to be the heirs of Marx and Lenin to grow up or get out.

Of course, if those idiots would just die, it would be nice too.

(Hat Tip to Dr. John Ray.)

A Question

What I would like to know is how O.J. Simpson managed to acquire at least ten friends?

Jeff Ruby, owner of the steakhouse Jeff Ruby’s Louisville, asked O.J. Simpson to leave his restaurant minutes after Simpson arrived about 10:30 Friday night.

Told by a customer that the former football player had arrived at the restaurant, 325 W. Main St., Ruby said, he informed Simpson, “I am not serving you.”

“He had a party of 10 or 12 people,” said Ruby, who had served Simpson many times at his Cincinnati restaurants before the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, of which Simpson was acquitted.

I'm pretty sure I know where I'm going for dinner if I ever visit Louisville.

“This was the only thing I could do for the victims’ families,” said Ruby. He said the 50 or so people in the private room where Simpson had been seated “stood up and applauded me” when Simpson left.

“And who walks in five minutes later?” asked Ruby.

Michael Jordan.

Sounds like a pretty cool place to eat.

A Suggestion

READ THIS:

Years after the end of the war, American G.I.'s were often asked why they fought so hard in the Second World War and the answer was almost always the same:

"So my kids don't have to come over here and do this again"

Americans of that war and that generation, knew the high cost that comes from an incomplete victory and a policy of isolation because they had learned the lesson of 1919. The American nation was shocked at the cost of the First World War and chose to enter a period of isolation afterwards but the result was not peace, but the rise of Hitler and the Japanese Empire. The cost of the 'peace movement' that formed at the end of the First World War could be measured in real terms of the 52 million people world wide who died in the second period of conflict.

It was a conflict that could've been avoided. The conflict of the Second World War and its horrid cost in lives is what inspired a generation to do what it could to ensure that the lives spent in that conflict would not be wasted by the nation being forced in the next generation of American soldiers being sent to the soil of Europe to fight yet another war.

The narcissistic trash that makes up the membership of the so-called peace movement simply do not care whether you and your children live, or die, or suffer under the yoke of an unwashed barbarian. They plaster their cars with bumper sticker, carry signs, bang on drums, throw Frisbees, and perform other useless rituals so that they can feel good about themselves and show the world how morally superior they are. Never mind that they openly deny the fundamental fact which is the foundation of all valid moral law, that Human Life -- life as a rational being in control of one's own life -- is the standard of all moral values, and that those who would damage or destroy Human Life must be removed from human society and if necessary be destroyed.

The adherents of pacifism have so inverted their own mental processes that they look upon the perpetrators of mass slavery and mass murder as good and those who take up arms to defend the society of consent as the most depraved evil.

Those who profess to be a part of the "peace movement" need to understand that the emotion of "wanting peace" alone is almost never enough to actually gain the peace they so desire. On occasion, you have to demonstrate that you are willing to fight to be able to maintain the peace that you have. A large number of military people for over 60 years dedicated their lives to the cause of maintaining peace in Europe. Lives were lost, large amounts treasure were expened, and it took three generations to fully accomplish the mission of peace in Europe, but the true price of peace is never cheap or easy or fast. The cost of failure to remainvigilent fills the graveyards of battlefield after battlefield all across the world.

Today's Quote of the Day comes from the Libertas website:

Fortunately,
this fact was not stated by Bill Clinton or any of the leading
Democratic contenders for 2008 presidential election. I would be very
reluctant to attempt to independently verify this fact.
