John Bergstrom Still Doesn't Play Well With Others

(Here's the link)

I've got two words for the UAW: Chapter Eleven.

Seriously. Union members "working" for the Big Three get at least double the wages of other people (actually) working in the same position in a non-union company.

And the reason I cast aspersions upon the work ethic of UAW members is that many of these so-called workers don't actually do any work but they still collect full pay and benefits. This practice effectively adds about two thousand dollars to the price of every automobile offered for sale by the Big Three.

Our socialist overlords are rushing into a bailout of the Big Three because it is in fact a bailout of the UAW. Ayn Rand used to call this phenomena Pull Politics and the practitioners the Aristocracy of Pull.

And as with every other aristocratic set-up its the peasants like us who are compelled to pay for the maintenance and upkeep of those who deem themselves (because no one else will) better than us mere mortals.

Correspondence

I just received a letter from the Transportation Security Administration:

Dear Mr. BATES:

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has reviewed your application to obtain or renew your hazardous materials endorsement (HME) pursuant to Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.), Part 152. You currently meet the requirements to hold an HME.

Accordingly, this letter serves as a Determination of No Security Threat under 49. C.F.R. | 1572.15(d)(1). TSA will notify the state that you may obtain or renew your HME.

So some of the fun stuff I did in the nineties doesn't count.

Weirdness for Today

There exists a recording of a Mexican mariachi band performing a cover of "Heart of Glass". Since I don't understand Spanish I can't really say that it is a cover of "Heart of Glass". It just sounded like what "Heart of Glass" would sound like if it were covered by a Mexican mariachi band.

Think Of It As Idiocy In Action

The Associated Press reports:

CHICAGO – Federal authorities arrested Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Tuesday on charges that he brazenly conspired to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder.

Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of Wrigley Field, according to a federal criminal complaint. In return for state assistance, Blagojevich allegedly wanted members of the paper's editorial board who had been critical of him fired.

A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.

If there is one thing I despise more than an Illinois Nazi its an Illinois Democrat.

The affidavit said Blagojevich also discussed getting a substantial salary for himself at a nonprofit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions.

It said Blagojevich also talked about getting his wife placed on corporate boards where she might get $150,000 a year in director's fees.

He also allegedly discussed getting campaign funds for himself or possibly a post in the president's cabinet or an ambassadorship once he left the governor's office. He noted becoming a U.S. senator might remake his image for a possible presidential run in 2016, according to the affidavit. And he allegedly said a Senate seat would also provide him with corporate contacts if he needed a job and present an opportunity for his wife to work as a lobbyist.

"I want to make money," the affidavit quotes him as saying in one conversation.

This only confirms my thesis that Leftists in general are basically parasites.

U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald said in a statement that "the breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering."

"They allege that Blagojevich put a for sale sign on the naming of a United States senator," Fitzgerald said."

Among those being considered for the post include U.S. Reps. Danny Davis and Jesse Jackson Jr.

Blagojevich also was charged with using his authority as governor in an attempt to squeeze out campaign contributions.

His chief of staff, John Harris, also was arrested.

Corruption in the Blagojevich administration has been the focus of a federal investigation involving an alleged $7 million scheme aimed at squeezing kickbacks out of companies seeking business from the state. Federal prosecutors have acknowledged they're also investigating "serious allegations of endemic hiring fraud" under Blagojevich.

Political fundraiser Antoin "Tony" Rezko who raised money for the campaigns of both Blagojevich and Obama is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of fraud and other charges. Blagojevich's chief fundraiser, Christopher G. Kelly, is due to stand trial early next year on charges of obstructing the Internal Revenue Service.

According to Tuesday's complaint, Blagojevich schemed with Rezko, millionaire-fundraiser turned federal witness Stuart Levine and others to get financial benefits for himself and his campaign committee.

Federal prosecutors said Blagojevich and the chairman of his campaign committee have been speeding up corrupt fundraising activities in the last month to get as much money as possible before the end of the year when a new law would curtail his ability to raise contributions from companies with state contracts worth more than $50,000.

According to the affidavit, agents learned Blagojevich was seeking $2.5 million in campaign contributions by the end of the year, with a large part allegedly to come from companies and individuals who have gotten state contracts or appointments.

I and two of my half-brothers were born in Illinois. The family then moved to Minnesota. Definitely a good move.

Blagojevich took the chief executive's office in 2003 as a reformer promising to clean up former Gov. George Ryan's mess.

Which gives us a clear answer to the question of how good the word of a Democrat is.

Do I realy need to say it?

History Lesson

What most people don’t realize is that The Matrix is really a remake of the 1969 East German film Wirklichkeit ist eine Illusion, also lassen Sie uns sprechen Rätsel, Eintragfaden-Polizei und Tanzkampf (”Reality is an Illusion, so Let Us Speak Riddles, Shoot Police and Dancefight”). This film was made in response to the large number of philosophically obscure European films released in 1968 and the East German communists didn’t want to be left in the dust by their Western opposite numbers (It’s the RED pill for a reason).

Unfortunately the East German censors were either not “read in” on the project or they didn’t care and they refused to approve of its release and the film was placed into storage until the fall of the East German communist government in 1989. After a very short limited release a number of VHS copies of the film made it to Los Angeles and the rest is history.

(Yes, I’m kidding.)

But for the next three months while we were there we kept getting these communiques and photos of the duck. The photos usually involved the duck being blindfolded and bound with a gun pointed at its head. I think the "kidnappers" were the Peoples Liberation Army of something or other. But, these photos had backgrounds of scenery all over Europe. It kept people amused for the three months though.

It was finally returned as we were turning the vehicles back in prior to redeployment, when someone noticed the duck was tied spread-eagled to the grill of a five ton truck. Happy ending.

H. Beam Piper once wrote that political revolutions occur in a nation because the ruling class becomes discredited.

The Republican Party has to a large degree discredited itself by their continued insistence on practicing politics as usual and their continued practice of making deals with the other side.

Now that the other side is fully in charge in Washington we are about to receive a hard lesson on political incompetence. And contrary to what Azimov once wrote, violence will be the first thing that our rulers resort to.

I still remember Waco.

* Official Soviet culture made a show of celebrating the workers as a collective. But even this aspect of Soviet culture was a fraud as the rulers, the Nomenklatura, held the working class in utter contempt.

Blast From The Past

Oh... Here's something I just dug up from some old files:

The effectiveness of totalitarian gun control as described by the commander of the 106th Guards Airborne Division of the Soviet Army. One of the units sent to suppress an anti-Armenian pogrom in Azerbaijan. As told to Carey Schofield, author of "The Russian Elite: Inside SPETSNAZ And The Airborne Forces."

"We landed by night, and some of our aircraft came under attack as we did so. One carrying personnel from Tula landed with twenty-two holes in the fuselage. The people thronging around the airfield were armed with sub-machine guns, knives and clubs. I went over to the crowd and said, 'Look! The Army is not a cat to be swung around in the air. Clear the road!' The KPP (Control and Command Post) of the airfield was blocked with KRAZ and KAMAZ trucks loaded with boulders. People started shouting that we wouldn't get through. While I was talking to the crowds my sappers were cutting the wire fence about 200 meters to the left and right of the KPP. I gave the crowds five minutes to think things over. They began jeering and laughing. Within five minutes two companies from my Ryazan regiment had crossed through the holes in the wire. The whole crowd was ordered to lie face down. We kept them there all night, to let them think things over. When we told them to clear off, the next morning, nobody wanted to admit that he had come armed. They all just left their weapons behind. So I said, 'okay, let's just say we found them'."

If gun control doesn't keep firearms out of the hands of criminals (genocidal criminals at that) in Soviet Russia, it is not going to do so in Soviet America.

What are your questions on this block of instruction?

Quote of the Day

From the comments on Robert Bidinotto's blog:

Around 1967 at the University of Chicago, I was talking to one of the radical guys in my dormitory. He argued that only a radical change in government would bring about a better society. I disagreed.

He said that his movement would become stronger, and eventually I would agree with him. I asked, what if I didn't agree with him, even later? He flashed anger and told me that if I didn't agree on my own, he would make me agree. I saw that as the end of the discussion.

Thought for the Day

The Media in the context of a political contest has a function similar to that of a witness in a criminal trial. By committing perjury the witness prevents the jury from issuing a correctly informed verdict. The results of which are wrong, such as the conviction of an innocent individual, and could be disastrous, like the acquittal of a murderous psychopath. Thus the act of perjury must be treated as a punishable crime.

Similarly, when the Media misinforms the electorate the result can be disastrous. Such as the election on an individual who is philosophically and experientially unfit to hold the office.

But we're not supposed to hold reporters and publishers responsible for those destructive actions.

A Reminder

Let's talk about Socialism.

We must understand that Socialism is essentially a Master/Slave ideology. If you pardon me for quoting the First Trustifarian, "from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs." And for the socialists, as with the antebellum slaveholders, the needs of the masters will always be much greater than the needs of the slaves.

The socialist master class, both here in the United States and abroad, basically see themselves being dispossessed of what according to their ideology is rightfully theirs. Control of their slaves and the products of slave labor. What should not be a surprise to us is that the response of the socialist master class and their supporters is in many ways similar to the actions of the antebellum slaveholder class and their supporters.

Those who reject the chains of the Left are subjected to public ridicule and slander by the self-styled intellectuals and subject to physical violence by the goon squad, with the ski-mask replacing the white sheet as the attire of choice.

If you will pardon me for the use of shocking language, to the master class of the Left, we who reject the chains of Socialism are (regardless of our actual race) no better than a bunch of "Uppity Niggers." It should be no surprise to us that they are treating us as such.

If we want to go on the ideological offensive (Or is it the Counter-Offensive?) we should simply point out the fact that the socialist economic structure is based on SLAVE LABOR.

If you will pardon me for repeating this, "from each according to his ability -- to each according to his need." Is the literal description of a slave labor economic system.

It is invariably the full socialist states such as the Soviet Union, the Third Reich, and the various People's Republics of Whatever that build and depend on full-service slave labor camps to create the goods that they need to survive.

It is the socialist parties in the otherwise Capitalist nations of the West that act as if wealth, the product of everyone's thought and labor, belong not to the individual who created it, but to some manifestation of the collective (Der Volk, the World Proletariat, etc.) as a whole, and thus act as if a robbery has occurred when the true creators of wealth are allowed to keep some of it.

(Gosh, wow, I do tend to get a bit long winded sometimes.)

The socialist is for the most part someone who declines to live the essentially rational and productive life that is proper to Man, and instead goes to great lengths (including the total disconnect from reality) to cook up excuses to grab the wealth created by others. As if the goods and services created by others were something naturally found in nature.

Instead of living as rational men, socialists choose instead to exist as less than rational animals.

Perhaps we should start treating them as such.

Let's start by voting them out of office and go on from there.

What are your questions on this block of instruction?

Thought for the Day

Of course The Big ZERO (Die Grosse NULL) is going to have a problem with selfishness.

It's not just an issue of tax policy. Before one can say, "this is wrong, I won't do it", one has to say "I".

Conscience is the expression of the ego in the moral realm. To make a moral judgment and to act on it are basically selfish acts. It is the self that sees through its own eyes and acts on its own knowledge of right and wrong.

Or to put it another way, you can't really be selfish if you can't live with yourself.

Rational Selfishness as Ayn Rand tried to define and advocate was limited to acts which benefited one's self but caused no affirmative harm or inflicted a cost on another person.

Narcissism on the other hand, especially in the political realm, is not concerned with the injuries and burdens inflicted on other people. In fact, the more destructive the consequences of obedience to those who obey the narcissist, the better. Human sacrifice with beating hearts cut out and victims flayed alive, that's great. Millions worked to death in slave labor camps in Siberia, that's better. As far as the narcissist is concerned.

Let me put it this way: In order for me to say, "I, Leslie Bates, do solemnly swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America..." I have to say "I". That was my ego speaking when I swore that oath.

I don't know what else to say on this subject.

Demotivator of the Day

This display of political hatred is brought to us by some Leftist piece of shit in West Hollywood, California.

We mock and prosecute Klansmen for their stupid and destructive behavior. But the fact of the matter is that Klansmen act the way they do because they believe that they are superior beings destined to rule over those they have deemed to be inferiors.

Guess who else believe themselves to be superior beings?

The Left.

Who else preached hatred and murder of inferiors?

The Left.

One would be hard pressed to find a greater example of homicidal hatred (other than the NSDAP) preached and commanded at the political level than Lenin screaming for the mass murder of the Kulaks. Which is to say the extermination of those who refused to obey him and worship him as their God and Savior in the place of Jesus Christ.

As stupid and destructive as the Klan was they could not in a million years match the insanity and deadliness of The Left in absolute power. The Klan simply could not lynch enough Africans to match the 100 million person worldwide bodycount that Leftist regimes have run up since November of 1917.

But if Lefties in America want to behave like Klansmen then let's start treating them like Klansmen.

What are your questions on this block of instruction?

Thought for the Day

A totalitarian is a totalitarian.

It doesn't matter if the bullet in your head was placed there by a National Socialist, a Soviet Communist, or (if the election goes really wrong here) an Obamatologist. What does matter is that you are the victim of someone who truly believed that you and other people existed to serve as tools and materials for the construction of their ideological fantasy and who also believed that those who do not submit are trash to be disposed of.

Every member of the founding leadership of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union was once in the custody of the Russian Police for their revolutionary activities. They should have been put to death, but were instead imprisoned and eventually released. Adolf Hitler was arrested and tried for his attempt to overthrow the State Government of Bavaria by force. He should have been hanged for treason, but was instead imprisoned and released.

Tens of millions of people died because persons in positions of authority did not recognize the danger that these violent revolutionaries represented and failed to exercise the full powers available to them to prevent the great massacres of the Twentieth Century.

Only you can stop Barack Obama and his followers from murdering millions.

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

Dr. Sanity writes:

Even more compelling for me is the fact that Obama's associations show a distinct pattern of intimately consorting with and sucking up to the scum of the earth. 'That guy' seems to have hung out with wide range of terrorists, radicals, sleazeballs and criminals. He has variously called them "friends", "mentors" and "benefactors" because they all helped him to become what he is today.

The fact of the matter is that The Big ZERO has a series of long and close personal and professional relationships with persons who can be reasonably described as "Enemies of the Republic" and "Enemies of Human Kind." The Big ZERO is simply unfit to hold any form or level of public office. Reaching this conclusion should be a no-brainer. And anyone who hasn't reached that conclusion has no brains.

The point of the First Amendment was to protect the right of the people, including what we now call the Media, to speak and publish the truth, no matter how unpleasant it may be to those in (or wishing to be in) government.

The problem is not only is this right being openly abused but any attempt to deal with this abuse would only create a power that will with absolute certainty be abused by the other party should it regain power over us.

Some people wonder why the advocates of Communism couldn't move to a country ruled by an actual Communist regime.

They won't do that because they would just be another drone in the Communist hive. What they want is to be the rulers of their own Communist state.

They want to be G-d on Earth.

They see us mere mortals as either tools or livestock that they can use for their own ends, or as defective animals that must be destroyed, or trash to be disposed of.

Such people cannot be reasoned or negotiated with. They can only be isolated, driven off, or destroyed.

Also a woman fainted about ten feet away from me when JSM and SP arrived.

Answer of the Day

Someone commenting anonymously on a previous thought of the day wrote:

"why does their have to be dead bodies on the road to peace? is not there a better way?"

In answer to the question, no.

Because some individuals and groups won't accept a negative answer to a demand for submission. The example of Lenin screaming for the death of the Kulaks, Russian peasants who refused to be slaves of the collective, readily comes to mind.

Most of the time they don't even bother to ask. They will simply go straight to violence to enforce their will upon others.

As I have written before those who are dependent on a subject population for their survival and well being cannot exist in the society of consent. They must resort to force against those who refuse to submit. They have no choice in the matter, and thus we have no choice but to use force upon them.

Those who only allow you the options of submission or death, for example Adolf Hitler and the NSDAP, are nothing more than vermin fit solely for extermination.

Thought for the Day

It has come to my attention that Whoopi Goldberg is irrationally afraid that the next Republican president will somehow resurrect the practice of chattel slavery.

It would be all too easy to dismiss Ms. Goldberg as an ignorant something that rhymes with runt, but I will instead respond in a more gentlemanly manner:

"Ms. Goldberg, the Republican Party led this nation in the bloodiest war in it's history in order to put an end to chattel slavery. We are not about to reconsider our position on the issue."

Rants of the Day

Someone calling himself Dan made this comment:

>Self Appointed Superior Beings who
>forcibly imposed

Ah, point of order, but it was popularly supported by the majority of voters, wasn't it?

I mean, that's how constitutional amendments normally get passed.

Does that mean that ALL laws and constitutional amendments are "forcibly imposed"?

Does that also mean that those same SASBs forcibly imposed the right of women to vote?

And similar SASBs imposed the direct election of senators, and the abolition of slavery?

I responded:

Government is force. When such force is used to protect Life Liberty, and Property it is necessary and good. When such force is used to treat other persons as if they were subhuman animals then it is destructive of Human Life and is therefore an evil.

The nature of Human Life defines the moral conditions under which Human beings must live. No act of legislation or majority vote can overturn a law of nature. Any attempt to do so is a futile and destructive act.

We in the United States were somewhat fortunate in that we got Prohibition and the New Deal while Europe and Russia were turned into totalitarian slaughterhouses.

And Dan, please try to get your facts straight. Chattel slavery was practiced by Superior Beings. It was the ordinary and decent people who went to war to end the practice of slavery.

But I had to go down and read a keyboard dropping this idiot left at an earlier posting of mine:

>as a slave of Communist filth like Barack Obama.

Wait, wait. You boycott a hobby shop because it snarks on both the RNC and the protesters outside.

Then you turn around and write *this*?

That seems like something of a double standard on political discourse.

What double standard?

I cannot and will not stop anyone from advocating slavery and murder. But if anyone actually tries to practice slavery and murder then I will do everything in my power to stop them. Permanently.

I immediately replied thus:

Dan, it has been my experience that arguing with morons is an act of futility. But I will answer you this one last time.

I will not do business with those who insist on insulting me. This is a voluntary act of a private citizen that in no way violates any actual rights of anyone. Don and his crew at Uncle Hugo's can whine, moan, and groan all they want about the our continued refusal to drink the Kool-Aid. I will do nothing to stop them. And I simply will not do any further business with them.

Censorship is an exercise of state power carried out with the credible threat of deadly force. Censorship is an act that reduces Human Beings to the effective status of livestock.

If you cannot discern a difference between a private act that violates no one's actual rights and an act of forcible subjugation by a state then you sir are a fucking moron and I will waste no further effort in responding to you.

And because of the aforementioned moron I will now repeat my Statement of Policy:

In a free country one may eject a obnoxious lout from their own home or place of business.

And unlike Comrade Stalin, I don't have an army of trench-coated goons to send out and murder those I disagree with. There is a VERY DISTINCT difference between the power of the state and the rights of the private citizen. Learn to live with it.

Furthermore, comparing someone to the bloodiest murderer of the 20th Century and calling that person a traitor and an enemy of freedom are gross insults and I am under no moral obligation to tolerate such on my weblog. Anyone who doesn't like that is free to whine about it on their own weblog.

I stand for INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY, which is the right of the individual person to control their own life and property, and as such this includes the right to refuse contact with those the individual disagrees with or otherwise finds obnoxious. Tyranny is when such refusals are answered with physical force.

I have said before and will continue to say that those have or who seek to establish tyranny are toxic to human life, and I have absolutely no ethical objections to dealing with them as such.

This means that Dan is now on my private delete before reading list.

Goodbye moron.

Smack Down of the Day.

I just delivered a smack down on an anthropologist over at The Glen's Live Journal page:

Ms. Fell, your sneer is a clear indication that you may be part of the problem. Positive confirmation of this would of course require further observation and research for which I neither the time, patience, nor a research grant to perform. That would be a task that is ideally suited to an actual intellectual. As you may have noticed I did not condemn all intellectuals in my rant, I only condemned the false ones.

Intellectuals actually can be useful when they are honest or when they are actually paying attention to objective reality. The problem arises when someone assumes the position of authority in order to scam their way to survival and well being, or to further an adverse ideological agenda. But since there is only one reality, which is commonly perceived by all individuals, the fraud is ultimately discovered. But all too often the disclosure occurs after innocent lives are lost.

One of the obvious indications that one is a false intellectual is their apparent blindness to the distinction between the states of civilization and barbarism. The State of civilization is not only the collection of structures that people live and work in, and the tools that they use, it is also the moral condition that they live in. The foundation of the social order has a clear impact on the survival and well being of the the people who live in it.

In the state of civilization consent is the preferred basis of social, economic, and political relationships, and force is reserved as a response to the violent predatory behavior from such persons as common criminals and Communists. The barbaric social paradigm is dominated by those persons who, by tribal membership or by adherence to an ideology*, assume the role of a superior being that forcibly uses other people as a means to assure their own survival and well being.

Obviously not all civilizations are perfect, which is clearly demonstrated by the Self Appointed Superior Beings who forcibly imposed the Prohibition of alcohol on the United States in the earth Twentieth Century.

To be able to see the distinction between civilization and barbarism and act on it does have an impact on the survival and well being of a person, as in the individual case of Ayn Rand, and it thus is a moral necessity.

Anyone who cannot see, refuses to see, or who actively obliterates, the distinction between civilization and barbarism in their work is either not doing their job properly or is part of the problem, and in either case has absolutely zero claim to being an intellectual. Though that doesn't stop them from trying.

But I'm just an unemployed pizza delivery driver, what do I know?

* Or both in the case of the German National Socialist.

Thought for the Day

I once brought up the subject of an armed uprising against a tyrannical state during the question and answer session after an Objectivist lecture. The lecturer (who I will refrain from naming to save him from further embarrassment) said, "we can't do that, we'll all be killed."

The fact of the matter is everyone dies. I would rather die as a free man standing up for my rights and Humanity in General than to be worked to death as a slave of Communist filth like Barack Obama.

The self-styled progressives had a riot today in Saint Paul.

They deny us the right to peacefully gather to work out rational solutions to political issues. Boycott Uncle Hugo's

I will no longer do business with Uncle Hugo's Science Fiction Bookstore in Minneapolis.

I picked up the latest issue of the bookstore's newsletter at my P.O. box. After announcing that they were having a sale on used books someone inserted this charming paragraph:

We hope you can get here the first weekend, before the RNC begins, but who knows about the period while the RNC is in town. We suggest that you stop thinking of the RNC as the Republican National Convention and instead think of it as the Republican National Circus, with one team of clowns performing inside the convention center and a different team of clowns performing on the streets outside the convention center.

They have a right to their own opinion, regardless of how utterly distorted it is.

They do not have a right to my custom.

I've been doing business with them for three decades. Never again will I step into that store.

I would suggest a long term metaphysical destination for them but I have no reason to believe in the existence of Hell.

There's So Much Confusion, I Can't Get No Relief

The part of the city (Northeast Minneapolis) on the East side of the river was originally the City of Saint Anthony but was merged with the City of Minneapolis after the bridges were built. This led to the laying out of a Washington Street in Northeast Minneapolis and an entirely separate Washington Avenue running through North and Downtown Minneapolis, the U of M East and West Bank campuses, and Stadium Village. This in turn was divided into Washington Avenue North and Washington Avenue South at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Nicollet Avenue.

You can barely imagine how much fun it was to have to give directions to people.

I grew up in a house on Northeast Washington Street and I used to run the outdoor parking lot for a building at 100 Washington Avenue South.

I would have some people asking me for directions to "100 Washington Street" and I would tell them that there was no such address as NE Washington Street actually began at about the 800 block. I would then suggest that they were in fact looking for 100 Washington Avenue but they wouldn't listen to me.

Or someone would come up and just ask for "100 Washington Avenue" and I ask them if it was North or South. If they said North I would tell them that the location was a parking lot across First Avenue from the (now defunct) Pontiac dealership on the other side of Hennepin Avenue.

If someone just said they were looking for "Washington Street" I would tell them that they were on the wrong side of the river.

The parking lot I ran in Downtown Minneapolis was also a block away from the main Post Office. One day someone came up and asked for directions to it.

I just pointed east to the end of Marquette Avenue and said that it was right there. The main Post Office in Minneapolis was a MASSIVE limestone building constructed in the Fascist Modern style of the 1930's with big letters spelling UNITED STATES POST OFFICE on the other side of a "T" intersection in plain view short block away from my booth at the parking lot.

The idiot said that she couldn't see it.

I no idea how these people managed to reach my location in the first place, I'm not sure that I even want to know.

Thought for the Day

I just posted this at Little Green Footballs:

They hate the Society of Consent.

Because of their hatred of the principle of Consent they look for any excuse to reject the inherent moral standards of a rational society where consent is the basis of human relationships. They look for any excuse to justify compulsion in any situation.

Why?

Because their lives depend on it.

Because as parasites on a rational and productive society power over the productive population is essential to their survival and well being.

I cannot emphasize this point enough: POWER IS LIFE!

They persistently denounce reason because no consistently rational individual will consent to being carrying the burden of a willful parasite.

They persistently cook up excuses for acts of brutal subjugation because without such behavior they would simply wither away and die.

Of course I wouldn't mind if they did.

Question of the Day

Some moby on Little Green Footballs asked if was willing to go to war with Russia over Georgia.

My answer was yes.

I want the Russian Imperialist State to be crushed and rendered harmless. I want Putin to be put down with a round in his head in the Soviet style.

The expansion of Imperial States are limited by by their modes of transportation and the opposition of other states. Since present transportation technology allows forces to be transported anywhere on the planet, the only effective limit to imperial expansion is superior firepower and the will to use it.

Georgia simply is an example of why Russian imperialism must be stopped. If we don't fight over Georgia then we will be fighting the Russians or other would be conquerors in our own streets. By defending Georgia we are ultimately defending ourselves.

If someone has a problem with this then they are just another fucking traitor.
_

Some Suggestions

The rulers of Russia are trying to bully us out of installing a anti-missile base in Poland.

I have a couple of suggestions for our current administration:

First: The first five Ticonderoga class AEGIS cruisers were decommissioned because they had the earlier twin arm missile launchers instead of the current box-cell launchers. Four of these ships remain (one sunk as a target), lets pull the phased array radars and AEGIS combat systems out of those hulls and emplace them with Standard-3 ABMs in box-cell launchers to give coverage to our major cities.

Second: Let's produce new land based units of the AEGIS system as described above to cover all of our major population centers.

Objections?

A Blast From The Past

Substitute the Marxists and Gaianists for the Catiline Conspiracy and this would pretty much cover the situation of today:

When, O Catiline, do you mean to cease abusing our patience? How long is that madness of yours still to mock us? When is there to be an end of that unbridled audacity of yours, swaggering about as it does now? Do not the nightly guards placed on the Palatine Hill—do not the watches posted throughout the city—does not the alarm of the people, and the union of all good men—does not the precaution taken of assembling the senate in this most defensible place—do not the looks and countenances of this venerable body here present, have any effect upon you? Do you not feel that your plans are detected? Do you not see that your conspiracy is already arrested and rendered powerless by the knowledge which every one here possesses of it? What is there that you did last night, what the night before— where is it that you were—who was there that you summoned to meet you—what design was there which was adopted by you, with which you think that any one of us is unacquainted?

Shame on the age and on its principles! The senate is aware of these things; the consul sees them; and yet this man lives. Lives! aye, he comes even into the senate. He takes a part in the public deliberations; he is watching and marking down and checking off for slaughter every individual among us. And we, gallant men that we are, think that we are doing our duty to the republic if we keep out of the way of his frenzied attacks.

You ought, O Catiline, long ago to have been led to execution by command of the consul. That destruction which you have been long plotting against us ought to have already fallen on your own head.

What? Did not that most illustrious man, Publius Scipio, the Pontifex Maximus, in his capacity of a private citizen, put to death Tiberius Gracchus, though but slightly undermining the constitution? And shall we, who are the consuls, tolerate Catiline, openly desirous to destroy the whole world with fire and slaughter? For I pass over older instances, such as how Caius Servilius Ahala with his own hand slew Spurius Maelius when plotting a revolution in the state. There was—there was once such virtue in this republic, that brave men would repress mischievous citizens with severer chastisement than the most bitter enemy. For we have a resolution of the senate, a formidable and authoritative decree against you, O Catiline; the wisdom of the republic is not at fault, nor the dignity of this senatorial body. We, we alone,—I say it openly, —we, the consuls, are waiting in our duty.

An Observation

I think we are seeing in the Barack Obama campaign is a case of sacred text syndrome in action. The Obamatologists have their noses stuck in Saul Alinsky's sacred instruction manual while McCain and his crew are doing Boyd Cycle (OODA: Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) loops around them.

And the interesting thing about doing the Boyd Cycle is that one need not perform the perfect action, one only has to perform an action faster than the other side in order to throw them off balance.

Of course one cannot achieve balance if one's nose is stuck in the sacred Marxist instruction manual.

LOL that's the dumbest thing I heard. Dragonball is much older then your LotR [Lord of the Rings] and it didn't innovate an ything as books and videogames like that (Heroes of Might and Magic) have existed long before. Also stories with rings being the key to the plot have been around, especially in quite a few 90's action shows. Rant of the Day

lifeofthemind at Little Green Footballs wrote the following:

Much of the Middle East was not a desert before the conquest of Islam. It wasn't magic. It was thousands of years of carefully developed irrigation systems. Anatolia (Turkey) was a productive region before the Byzantines were defeated at Manzikert. A thousand years later it is an arid waste. THe same thing happened to Palestine and several other regions. The climate is difficult and may have gotten worse over the last millennium but the major change was in the destructive conduct of Muhammad's followers toward critical infrastructure.

I replied:

Our respective cultures are to a large degree defined by what we consider to be divine. (For the record, I'm an atheist.)

In the Christian gospel (if I recall correctly) God came to us in the person of Jesus Christ, a carpenter, a member of the building trades, someone who did creative work for a living. And Christians as a rule generally follow that example.

Islam on the other hand is solely the creation of a self appointed spokesman for a recycled pagan deity. The false prophet Mohammad was an essentially parasitic individual who married for money and then proceeded to pursue a career of wanton vandalism, robbery, murder, rape, and pedophilia, all while claiming to pass on messages from a false god. In the course of his career Mohammad also created the practice of modern political terrorism. Muslims, the slaves of the false god Allah, are commanded to follow the example of Mohammad.

I'm usually loathe to agree with any Marxist but one of them made what I now consider a valid point. We imagine our divine authority to be a reflection of ourselves and our values. The Lord God of the Judaic and Christian tradition is the creator of Heaven and Earth, and the creator and protector of Life, and we in our lives work to emulate him. On the other hand the false god Allah is the perfect reflection of the depraved creature who created him, a malignant narcissist who wantonly destroys and murder at a whim, and hardcore Muslims have not the slightest clue as to why this is wrong.

The product of our respective values is plainly obvious. Jews and Christians are builders and protectors. Those who obey the false prophet Mohammad to the letter are destroyers and murderers.

(I really should get paid for writing this.)
