This Is Islam In Action

Critic of Islam assassinated:

AMSTERDAM (AFP) - The Dutch film maker Theo van Gogh, who made films that sparked political controversy in the Netherlands including a recent short film on Islam, was murdered in Amsterdam, a spokesman for his film production company told Dutch public Radio 1.

Van Gogh, 47, had just finished a movie about the assassination in May 2002 of the populist right-wing politician Pim Fortuyn.

Pim Fortuyn was a homosexual socialist critic of Islam who stood up for the native Dutch culture. The Established Liberal Media never bothers to mention those rather inconvenient details.

After his film on Islam and the submission of women together with controversial liberal politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Van Gogh received police protection much against his will.

He was shot while cycling in Amsterdam, according to eyewitnesses. The police have captured the assailant but have no idea yet why Van Gogh was killed.

This report comes from a French press agency, they're bound to shave the truth a bit in favor of the Islamists.

It's reported elsewhere that the assailant appeared to be of Somali origin.

As I said before, we can't dehumanize the enemies of Liberty, only they can and they have in practice dehumanized themselves.

Update at 0525 CST:

Natchwacht at Little Green Footballs posted:

According to a female English speaking eyewitness the killer was an arabic looking man clad in long islamic dress (jilaba?) with a big black beard.

According to a Dutch male eyewitness two knifes were used, a large one and a small one. The killer stooped over his victim for several minutes (trying to behead his victim as well?) and the letter stuck to his chest was said to contain islamic text.

Update at 0555 CST:

BBC website story:

Police arrested a man in a nearby park after an exchange of gunfire.

Van Gogh, 47, had received death threats after his film Submission, on violence against women in Islamic societies, was shown on Dutch TV.

The film was made with liberal Dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali refugee who fled an arranged marriage.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been under police protection since the film was aired. She has also received death threats and has renounced the Islamic faith.

Criticizing and leaving Islam are acts punishable by death according to the false prophet Mohammed.

Good thing I've always kept an unlisted phone number.

Update at 0830 CST:

Just got back from voting for President Bush.

Robert Spencer has posted the story on his Dhimmi Watch site.

There are comments and witness accounts in the comments section.

Like this from Martin in Amsterdam:

The assasination happened around the corner from where I live in Amsterdam Oost. I arrived on the scene five minutes after they killed Theo, as I was on my way to buy some bread with my two year old. I saw his body, with the knives still in it, covered with white linnen. Like this:

I informed Jihadwatch within the hour.

I knew Theo very well. He was the nicest guy. I worked with him at a radiostation, ten years ago. He lived around the corner, and never wanted to be surrounded by body guards, like Hirsi Ali and Wilders.
The police took his son out of the class room this morning to tell his father is dead. God bless Lieuwe.

Politicians now talk about societal problems, and that society is getting more violent. Off course, they don't talk about a war that is going on for 1400 years.

The guy who did it was wearing a djallaba, and has a long beard. After he shot Theo seven times, Theo was stabbed. On the knive a letter, or holy scriptures.

Take the time to read the whole thing.

Pim Fortuyn wasn't a socialist in his last years, more like a common sense libertarian. But your point is well taken. He certainly wasn't the dangerous extreme rightwinger like the media portrayed him.
