Someone Else's Thought For The Day

Sure, Al-Qaida goons can massacre helpless civilians at will, but as Robert Mandel points out:

For all the bluster of a Khomenei, a Khadaffy, or a Hussein, how many Dresdens and Tokyos have they in their past? How many einsatzgruppen have they unleashed? Who but the West has shown not only a proclivity, but a passion to turn their entire efforts towards systematic, callous, cold, ruthless, and methodological killing.

We in the Christian West can snuff out civil populations by the hundreds of thousands, or with nuclear weapons by the hundreds of millions, over the course of a night. We can do a better job of it than any jihadi with a rusty knife or explosive vest can even dare to dream of. We just haven't had cause to do so since the end of the Second World War.

The London bombings of 7/7 will only bring us closer to the day we finally release the machinery of death and destruction on the Dar-el-Islam as our grandparents did on National Socialist Germany and Imperial Japan.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled reality.

You know, there may be just a dim glimmer of hope.

I was talking to a liberal I work with yesterday about the London bombing. He asked the question, why do we have nukes, if we don't use them?

Needless to say, I was floored. This guy his the typical anti-Bush, but it appears that some on the left are beginning to question there own stances.

...we really, really, really don't want to live in a world where, you know, we let God sort them out.

And I didn't think of it at the time but there is a valid environmental issue with the use of nuclear weapons.
