Nonsense

Some Conservative writers have published articles and even one book asserting that President John F. Kennedy was in fact a Conservative.

I have to call nonsense on this.

The Kennedy Brothers were professional pragmatic politicians who acted and made the statements necessary to obtain and to be reelected to public offices.  Conservative positions were taken in order to obtain the requisite votes.  For the Kennedy Brothers the figurative wet finger was always in the wind.

For Edward Kennedy the political positional options were limited after the Chappaquiddick Incident.  No Conservative, let alone  anyone with an actual conscience, would vote for a drunken serial philanderer who left a date to suffocate after a car accident.

But then Teddy also had a reputation for being an idiot.
