Corruption at the UN

According to CNN, Paul Volcker's investigation found that Saddam Hussein manipulated the United Nations oil-for-food program so that his regime received $1.8 billion in illicit payments.
"Oil surcharges were paid in connection with the contracts of 139 companies and humanitarian kickbacks were paid in connection with the contracts of 2,253 companies."

Volcker also said,
"Corruption of the program by Saddam and many participants could not have been nearly so pervasive with more disciplined management by the United Nations."

"At stake is whether the organization will be able to act effectively."

And Now For Something Completely Different

The Normandy Invasion as it would be covered by the present day Mainstream Media:

June 6th, 1944 — Normandy

Around three hundred French civilians were murdered yesterday and an undetermined number were injured during the first hours of the American invasion of continental Europe. Most of the French victims were due to artillery shots coming from the American fleet that was trying to hit German fortifications on the coast before thousands of soldiers proceeded to land on several of the beaches.

Think Of It As Idiocy In Action

Left Coast Progressives show how much they love freedom of speech:

We also had an attempted disruption opening night, when two left-wing protesters rushed the stage and attempted to attack David Horowitz. Fortunately, our very own Jason Apuzzo, plus volunteer Daniel Crandall, Chris Cook, and several others got to them first and dragged them out of the auditorium kicking and screaming. Ironically enough, David Horowitz was speaking about the need for free speeech and academic freedom at the very moment the protesters ran up on the stage shouting “Fascists have no right to speak! You have no right to speak! We don’t want your right wing **** here!” etc. etc. Several other protesters at the back of the auditorium also tried to drown out Horowitz with shouts, but were shouted down by the audience (led by Melrose Larry Green!). A half hour later a carload of more protesters showed up at the front of the Pacific Design Center, but were turned away by security. Many thanks to the West Hollywood Sherrif’s office for their prompt response in escorting these sterling examples of tolerance and free speech advocacy off the PDC property.

The one word that tyrants, and those who seek to become tyrants, do not want to hear is the word "NO."

Even to suggest that a person has the right to say NO is the equivalent of speaking a death sentence to tyrants and wanna-be tyrants.

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

Windrider at Silent Running wrote:

Bin Laden'’s dream is not so different from the delusions of Adolf Hitler. Power. Absolute power. But Hitler isn'’t really even in the same league of dreamers as Stalin and Bin Laden, or at least he never was able to come close to realizing the same scope of control - because good men recognized his evil, and stood forth to stop him.

On one day of that struggle, 4,900 Americans lost their lives. In one single day. Are there those who claim that their deaths were meaningless? Or that their cause not worthwhile? Europe liberated from Nazi tyranny. A wholesale mass-murder industry put out of business, with the camps of mechanized death dismantled.

In two and a half years, America has lost 2,000 US Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. In a task with the same goals as that which took 4900 in a single day. The opposition of tyranny. The dismantlement of a culture of death. The liberation of millions of people such that they may choose their destiny, instead of having it imposed upon them by fear.

2,000. In two and a half years.

A high cost, to be sure. But not as high a price as has been exacted in the past.

Terror is merely the method. The ultimate goal is the establisment and maintainance of a state of tyranny.

It does not matter if the tyrants calls themselves Communists, National Socialists, or Theocrats, they simply cannot be reasoned with. Negotiations, summit meetings, and other gestures of good will cannot stop them. Like any predatory animal they can only be driven off and ultimately destroyed.

If we are to continue to live a proper human life then the hunting season on tyrants and those who willingly support them must always be open.

LA Sunsett wrote at his blog:

You cannot build a strong nation with lazy-asses and corrupt politicians.

This nation was not built by socialists, it was built by hard working men and women that poured their hearts, their souls, and their spirits into this endeavor. Blood, sweat, and tears were shed for this country, and sugar coated feel good theories (that have never worked and never will) played no part of it.

The managers at Pizza Hut liked me because I was constantly working, looking for things to do, and not standing around waiting for orders. For an atheist I had one hell of a Protestant work ethic. The store manager paid me at a rate that was eighty-five cents on hour above the Federal minimum wage.

Then the Minnesota state legislature bumped the local minumum wage to fifteen cents on hour above what Pizza Hut had paid me.

A master of pork barrel political spending has threatened to resign if his grossly useless and expensive projects are cancelled:

Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, was dramatic in his response: "I don't kid people," he roared. "If the Senate decides to discriminate against our state ... I will resign from this body."

Oh? Would you? Please?

"I've been here now almost 37 years," Stevens said. "This is the first time I have seen any attempt of any senator to treat my state in a way different from any other state."

The not terribly honorable Mr. Stevens appears to be fully immersed in the corrupt culture of using the contents of the public treasury to buy votes for himself. This is a practice that has to held in disrepute and ultimately brought to an end if our republic is to have a future.

Bullshit Is Bullshit

Over at Mark's blog someone wrote as a comment:

Why don't you guys buy a ticket to Rush Limbaugh's show on Broadway; liberals and progressives are not communists or socialists. At least we don't need a qualifier, like "compassionate" in front of what we are...

I wrote in reply:

In Europe, people like Mark and Myself who believe in the society of consent, with citizen-ruled republics and voluntary commerce (a.k.a. capitalism), are still called liberals. Here the term liberal is now used to denote someone who seeks to expand the power of the state over every aspect of life with out regard to the consequences.

In the New Devil's Dictionary liberalism is thus defined:

Liberal, Classical: Someone who believes that the rest of Mankind has something better to do. Believes that the helpless and innocent should be protected and deeply cares about the condition of Western Civilization.

Liberal, Modern: Someone who believes the the rest of Mankind has nothing better to do. Believes that the helpless and innocent should be attacked and deeply hates Western Civilization.

As to the claim that the term progressive and that the present usage of the term liberal somehow denotes something other than a socialist or an outright communist we should note that each term denotes someone who rejects consent as the basis of economic and social relations and seeks to expand the power of the state in all areas of human life without regard to the consequences.

Or as the New Devil's Dictionary puts it:

Progressive: Someone who won't admit to being a communist, usually for fear of being properly treated as one.

Poison is still poison regardless of what it is called. And bullshit is still bullshit.

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

Matt Margolis at Blogs For Bush wrote:

I caught some of the coverage of Saddam Hussein's trial this morning... And I began wondering if Saddam Hussein is going to be the next Mumia for the radical left.

Think about it, there are liberals in this country who believe that Saddam Hussein was a legitimately elected dictator of Iraq, but don't believe George W. Bush is the legitimately elected President of the United State

I replied:

That's the problem for them. George W. Bush is the President of the United States, subject to the Constitution and the will of the electorate, and not the American manefestation of Big Brother.

Socialists are inherently parasitic and thus cannot take "no" for an answer to their demands for obedience and the material goods they need to exist. If they did so they would wither away and die.

A dictator, on the other hand, does not have to take "no" for answer. Thus socialists are by necessity inclined to favor dictatorships over citizen-ruled republics.

When they see a dictator in the dock, they see their own hopes and desires go with him.

Do I really need to say more?
_

A Question

Do we want this individual to be elected president?

Hillary Clinton was arrogant and vocally abusive to her security detail. She forbade her daughter, Chelsea, from exchanging pleasantries with them. Sometimes Chelsea, miffed at her mother's obvious conceit and mean spiritedness ignored her demands and exchanged pleasantries regardless, but never in her mother's presence. Chelsea really was a nice, kindhearted, and lovely young lady. The consensus opinion was that Chelsea loved her Mom but did not like her.

Hillary Clinton was continuously rude and abrasive to those who were charged to protect her life. Her security detail dutifully did their job, as professionals should, but they all "loathed" her and wanted to be on a different detail. She was hard to work for because she was so nasty and mean toward her detail. Hillary Clinton was uniformly despised by the Secret Service as a whole.

Do I want Hillary to be elected president?

I certainly do not.

Whereas I usually have a deep loathing for the ordinary socialist, who is either a moron or a parasite with delusions of cleverness. I have to admit that I am afraid of Hillary. This individual appears to have no internal moral governor. No sense of shame or decency. None of the respect that ordinary people have for other persons.

Whereas Republican Presidents, and Jimmy Carter, were Christian gentlemen and behaved appropriately, Hillary appears, even as the so-called First Lady, to have assumed the demeanor of the totalitarian ubermensch. Showing what appears to be utter contempt for mere mortals, even those who are tasked with the protection of her life.

For all of his monsterousness even Adolf Hitler was not so stupid as to piss on his own security detail. Hillary, on the other hand, appears to be asking for it. I simply cannot imagine any Secret Service Agent taking a bullet for her.

The fact of the matter is that I am afraid of Hillary and what she will do if she were to be elected to the office of President.

She appears to have an unrestrained lust for power. She appears to look upon those of us who rationally refuse to submit to her will as criminals.

And I simply cannot imagine her quietly stepping aside were she to turfed out of office by the voters. She appears to the kind of individual who would order a reign of terror and murder against those who oppose her. And many of her supporters appear to be the kind of individuals who would be happy to obey such orders.

If Hillary were elected I would not envy the man who holds the position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I would only hope that he does his duty for the good of the Republic.

Blast From The Past

Something I once wrote on the subject of peace:

Peace in the real world is simply the absence of those -- such as the socialists -- who seek to deprive you, I, and our fellow citizens of our own Life, Liberty, and Property. Real peace can only be achieved by the physical isolation or outright elimination of those who seek to subjugate, plunder and murder us. This can only be done through the use of physical force.

In short, true peace can only be achieved only through the possession of superior firepower and the moral will to use it.

Chris Owens, Democratic candidate for his father's congressional seat, said:

Yes, Brooklyn needs housing -- as does the rest of New York City. Yes, affordable housing is needed throughout the City. But, Nathan, the real answer to that problem is not simply building more units.

This is an example of the mental inversion on the Left that George Orwell warned us about.

Comrade Owens the Younger doesn't need a seat in Congress. He needs a nice padded room and a lifetime supply of happy pills.

That's Amazing!

The New York Times actually correctely reported something:

If you trusted the stampeding herd of what Hunter Thompson called the “press wizards,” over the past century, you’d find yourself ruefully misinformed about major events. To cite just a few examples, they’d have told you that the Titanic didn’t sink, Hitler had given up on being a dictator and only wanted peace, there was no famine and no liquidations under Stalin in the 1930s Soviet Union and, to cite a more recent example, one quarter of the United States non-IV-drug using population would be dead from AIDS by 1990, i.e. roughly 60 million people... The first example is somewhat disingenuous, but still noteworthy: the New York Evening Sun, Wall Street Journal, and Los Angeles Express all reported that the Titanic had not sunk, all passengers were safe, and the ship had been safely towed to Halifax. In that case, the New York Times actually did get the story right, and they were chastised by the others for reporting that the ship had sunk. The reason they reported as they did was that “everybody knew” it was an unsinkable ship. Never mind that it sank. OK, that was in the earliest days of wireless transmission, so we’ll cut some slack.

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

A blast from the past from the Dissident Frogman's blog:

On The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:

But talking about TCM, -- which despite a persistent rumor, is not based on a true story: it's very loosely inspired by the sick bastard, victim of the society fetishist and cannibal serial killer Ed Gein's life as with know it. In fact, Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel mostly used bits and pieces (No pun intended. Okay, just a... bit... Darn! Forget about it) of Gein's story: the farm of course but also Ed's Human Bones and Skin artisanal furniture. But no chainsaw, no Texas, no hippies traveling in a Volkswagen minibus: Ed lived in Wisconsin, 1950 -- I won't mention the outstanding staging, direction, crappy photography turned into art and serving so brilliantly the ambiance of the movie and therefore its purpose. These are, after all, subject to discussion.

That said, to find "no message" in a 1974 independent movie (the important words are "independent" and "1974") staging a group of hippies suddenly confronted to a bunch of unprincipled wackos focused on the idea of hunting and eating anything that runs on two legs and utterly immune to the virtue of unilateral peace, love (Imagine all the people. In the seasoning bowl) as well as 12 years plus 19 UN resolutions (it's just an example), frankly, one has to watch this movie in a very superficial way.

Or be a former - or "neo" - love loving hippy I guess.

These poor peaceful "methodically hunted down and disposed of in brutal fashions" young people. How sick! How vile! How immoral!

Can you please put down that chainsaw and stop eating the fleshy love children of peace Mr. Leatherface?

Tell you what: I'm afraid the Texas Chainsaw Massacre's message is still cruelly valid these days.

A List For Today

On the anniversary of the destructtion of that murderer.

Thanks to Tex at Whacking Day!

Ten Shots At Che Guevara
By Alvaro Vargas Llosa

Che Guevara fans are preparing to commemorate one more anniversary of the revolutionary’s death, which took place thirty-eight years ago at the Yuro ravine in Bolivia. It’s an appropriate time to address ten myths that keep Guevara’s cult alive.

The last time I visited the Museum of Modern Art in New York, an American student wearing a Che Guevara T-Shirt and a beret caught my eye (the fact that Nicole Kidman happened to walk in at that very moment may have had something to do with my noticing him). I asked him politely what exactly he admired so much about that man. Here are the ten reasons he mentioned— and my response:

1. HE WAS AGAINST CAPITALISM. In fact, Guevara was for state capitalism. He opposed the wage labor system of “appropriating surplus value” (in Marxist jargon) only when it came to private corporations. But he turned the “appropriation of the workers’ surplus value” into a state system. One example of this is the forced labor camps he supported, starting with Guanahacabibes in 1961.

2. HE MADE CUBA INDEPENDENT. In fact, he engineered the colonization of Cuba by a foreign power. He was instrumental in turning Cuba into a temporary beachhead of Soviet nuclear power (he sealed the deal in Yalta). As the person responsible for the “industrialization” of Cuba he failed to end the country’s dependency on sugar.

3. HE STOOD FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE. In fact, he helped ruin the economy by diverting resources to industries that ended up in failure and reduced the sugar harvest, Cuba’s mainstay, by half in two years. Rationing started under his stewardship of the island’s economy.

4. HE STOOD UP TO MOSCOW. In fact, he obeyed Moscow until Moscow decided to ask for something in return for its massive transfers of money to Havana. In 1965 he criticized the Kremlin because it had adopted what he termed the “law of value”. He then turned to China on the eve of the Cultural Revolution, one of the horror stories of the twentieth century. He simply switched allegiances within the totalitarian camp.

5. HE CONNECTED WITH THE PEASANTS. In fact, he died precisely because he never connected with them. “The peasant masses don’t help us at all,” he wrote in his Bolivian diary before he was captured—an apt way to describe his journey through the Bolivian countryside trying to stir up a revolution that could not even enlist the help of Bolivian Communists (who were realistic enough to note that peasants did not want revolution in 1967; they had already had one in 1952).

6. HE WAS A GUERRILLA GENIUS. With the exception of Cuba, every guerrilla effort he helped set up failed pitifully. After the triumph of the Cuban revolution, Guevara set up revolutionary armies in Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Haiti, all of which were crushed. He later persuaded Jorge Ricardo Masetti to lead a fatal incursion into that country from Bolivia. Guevara’s role in the Congo in 1965 was both tragic and comical. He allied himself with Pierre Mulele and Laurent Kabila, two butchers, but got entangled in so many disagreements with the latter—and relations between Cuban and Congolese fighters were so strained—that he had to flee. Finally, his incursion in Bolivia ended up in his death, which his followers are commemorating this Sunday.

7. HE RESPECTED HUMAN DIGNITY. In fact, he had a habit of taking other people’s property. He told his followers to rob banks (“the struggling masses agree to rob banks because none of them has a penny in them”) and as soon as the Batista regime collapsed he occupied a mansion and made it his own—a case of expeditious revolutionary eminent domain.

8. HIS ADVENTURES WERE A CELEBRATION OF LIFE. Instead, they were an orgy of death. He executed many innocent people in Santa Clara, in central Cuba, where his column was based in the last stage of the armed struggle. After the triumph of the revolution, he was in charge of “La Cabaña” prison for half a year. He ordered the execution of hundreds of prisoners—former Batista men, journalists, businessmen, and others. A few witnesses, including Javier Arzuaga, who was the chaplain of “La Cabaña”, and José Vilasuso, who was a member of the body in charge of the summary judicial process, recently gave me their painful testimonies.

9. HE WAS A VISIONARY. His vision of Latin America was actually quite blurred. Take, for instance, his view that the guerrillas had to take to the countryside because that is where the struggling masses lived. In fact, since the 1960s, most peasants have peacefully deserted the countryside in part because of the failure of land reform, which has hindered the development of a property-based agriculture and economies of scale with absurd regulations forbidding all sorts of private arrangements.

10. HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE UNITED STATES. He predicted Cuba would surpass the GDP per capita of the U.S. by 1980. Today, Cuba’s economy can barely survive thanks to Venezuela’s oil subsidy (about 100,000 barrels a day), a form of international alms that does not speak too well of the regime’s dignity.

Alvaro Vargas Llosa is a Senior Fellow and director of The Center on Global Prosperity at the Independent Institute. He is the author of Liberty for Latin America.

Rant of the Day

Someone whom I presume to be just another [expletive] Leftist wrote as a comment to an earlier post:

Is it true that Americans are easily offended? Is it true they can't take a joke? Americans always claim that they have the most tolerant religion/country/political system in the world, but they start paranoying when they see someone complaining about the fact that they are throwing bombs everywhere? Are we going totally nuts here?

For the moment I'm going to treat this as a legitimate question and not as merely another leftist sneer.

(And what collective consciousness died and left this jerk-off as the voice of "the rest of the world" anyway?)

One of the fundamental problems with the Left is that they have apparently trained themselves to ignore distinctions, such as the distinction between producers and parasites. The Left has also shown themselves to be blind to the sequence of cause and effect. Both of these bad habits appear to benefit the adherents of the "primacy of the parasite" ideologies that were invented by such parasites as Marx and Mohammed.

Now as a rule I believe that bad jokes and other falsehoods can generally be ignored as noise. Demands for submission can be dismissed with contempt. Acts of violence should be answered with deadly force. And that any state, organization, or individual that willfully supports Marxist or Islamic terrorism is simply asking for it.

Willful destruction of human life can only be evil if the killer has a choice in the matter. When someone deliberately exercises force against us or against an innocent third party then we are deprived of a choice on the issue, we must respond with force. Furthermore, when one has to knock over a terror sponsoring state like the Ba'ath Party regime in Iraq (which would still be a socialist terror sponsoring state without Saddam in charge), one has the obligation to leave a functional government in its place.

(I can understand why some socialists prefer dictatorships over democracies, the productive voters might actually vote NO to their own enslavement to the parasites.)

As to the accusation that we are "throwing bombs everywhere", no, we are not.

We are deliberately dropping ordinance on targets. The deadfall ordinance is fitted with precision guidance systems (laser designation or GPS signal) in order to avoid inflicting damage on non-targets. Hell, we are fitting guidance units to bomb casings filled concrete. In effect, we are dropping precision guided rocks on some of those bastards. All this just to avoid harming the non-targeted.

We did not start this war. It began when the false prophet Mohammed took up the sword against those who refused to submit to his depraved will. Those who choose to lay down the sword of Islam and join human civilization will be welcomed as friends. Those who continue to wield the sword of Islam against Humanity are going to have that sword shoved up their terminal orifice.

Normally I find answering lefties to be about as enjoyable as taking out the trash. But if the trash isn't taken out one ultimately ends up living in an uninhabitable dump.

Some Questions

Leon de Winter asks:

Is it true that Muslim workers are easily offended? Is it true they can't take a joke? Muslims always claim that they have the most tolerant religion in the world, but they start complaining when they see someone taking a tissue from a box on which they see the sweet lines of Piglet? Are we going totally nuts here?

Dr. John Ray tipped me to Mr. de Winter's new weblog and I shall now add it to my blogroll.

HOUSTON (DPI) — GOP Majority Leader Tom DeLay was indicted last week for one count of criminal evil, one count of conspiracy to commit evil, and one count of attempted evil. Unnamed co-conspirators include a black cat named Greymalkin and a man known to authorities only as "the Antichrist." DeLay blamed his legal troubles on what he termed "anti-evil bias," saying "They’re just out to get me because they hate Satan-fearing Americans."
