Irony In Action

Mark Noonan at Blogs for Bush wrote:

It is absurd to think that the solutions to 70 year old problems are applicable in the world of today - we just aren't what we were back then. We need, as a society, to ever think anew and act anew. But what we're getting, in what is surely one of history's greatest ironies, is liberals demanding rigid adherence to the past while conservatives are pushing change for the future ... liberals seem determined to stand or fall upon a defense of things as they are - they have become reactionaries; disdaining change not because of what it might do, but because it is change. We've got a long fight on this Social Security issue, but I cannot imagine that a hidebound defense of a worn-out past will triumph.
